Gary Karr | Video | Japanese Art Songs performed by Gary Karr, Kuniko Furuhata-Brauss, and Harmon Lewis

In the early 1960s Gary Karr performed Russian Songs on record and in concert with Jennie Tourel, mezzo soprano. The combination of her voice with the double bass was so perfect that Karr vowed that he would never perform with another singer, that is, until he heard theĀ  Kuniko Furuhata-Brauss sing who reminded him of the sound of Jennie Tourel's voice. He asked her if she'd be willing to join Harmon Lewis and him in arranging Japanese Art Songs. Again, the blend of the double bass with her voice was so perfect that the three of them ended up giving concerts in Canada, U.S. and Japan.
