Music | Solo |  Double Bass & Synthesizers | Mirror Dialogue

Mirror Dialogue is a symmetric introspective, improvised electro-acoustic piece in 5 movements for contrabass, and the same contrabass sampled by Akai S2000 sampler I created in 2008.

I.   Prelude (0mn/0s)

II.  Recitativo (1mn/8s)

III. Jeremiad* about Western Civilization (1mn/51s)

IV. March (2mn/24s)

V.  Lied (2mn/48s)

*“(...)literary work, usually in prose, but sometimes in poetry, in which the author bitterly laments the state of society and its morals in a serious tone of sustained invective, and always contains a prophecy of society's imminent downfall.“

CONCEPT

The idea of symmetry comes from the sampler usage, which like a mirror reproducing an image, it reproduces the contrabass sound but in its own way; the form with center on the 3rd movement is also connected with this idea of symmetry. It is introspective, because in some way expresses my personal visions and thoughts about today’s world. It’s also Electro acoustic because uses electronic and acoustic ways of producing and processing sound.

CREATION PROCESS

1. Contrabass sampling with Akai S2000 sampler

2. Recording using sampled material

3. Contrabass recording over sampler track

4. Organization of musical form
