BASED ON THE CONCERT FOR VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA

LIANG SHANBO AND ZHU YINGTAI

梁山伯与祝英台小提琴协奏曲

Known as the Butterfly Lovers, China's cultural equivalent of Romeo and Juliet, a love story in which the two characters Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, who are separated by their families, find unity in death and are transformed into two butterflies staying together this form.

This was my homework for the Easter holidays, since I also scheduled holidays homework for my Conservatory students, I share here with enthusiasm, even in pajamas and beards longer than usual, homework's practice, debuting in this version with Double Bass, Moog’s Theremini and the most important thing missing here, the story that will be narrated along with the music by Su Xin, on the 21st of April at the Scientific and Cultural Center of Macau (CCCM), in a celebration promoted by Chinese Embassy in Portugal.

My arrangement of this one-movement part, for Double Bass, with parts improvised only on the Theremin, is based on another arrangement for Guzheng, by Bei Bei, which I transcribed from Chinese Jiampu notation, into Western, this being however based on original, the concerto for violin and orchestra composed by He Zhanhao (何占豪, 1933) and Chen Gang (陈钢, 1935), in 1959, while students at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, named CONCERT FOR VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA LIANG SHANBO E ZHU YINGTAI 梁山伯与祝英台小提琴协奏曲.
